Boron deficiency-Almond

Symptoms
At moderate boron deficiency, symptoms are not very clear. Initial fruit set is reduced and lateral shoot buds drop. At severe deficiency, trees may become completely unproductive. The fruit show brown gummy areas in the shell, sometimes with superficial gum exudate, and the embryo is aborted which leads to nut-drop in May. Remaining nuts are small and malformed. As a consequence from nut drop, vegetative growth may be increased. Further boron deficiency symptoms are leaf tip scorch, followed by leaf drop and dieback of the shoot tips. Later on the area below may show brushy, dense leaf growth with short internodes.
