Meet Citrus Spring Crop Demand with YaraLiva Calcium Nitrate
Spring is just around the corner! And many physiological processes are occurring in citrus groves across the state of Florida. All these activities require an increase in fuel in the form of nutrients from fertilization.
For early varieties such as Hamlins, post-harvest nutrition is essential to replace the stores that were used for fruit production. This timing is also incredibly important as we approach several other processes that effect all citrus varieties. These include root and vegetative flush, as well as bloom and fruit set for next season's crop.
The graph below highlights the demand uptake curves of different nutrients. About 50 percent of total nitrogen will be needed to achieve spring growth and crop development, but other nutrients such as potassium and calcium are in high demand as well. To meet crop demand, use calcium nitrate which contains available forms of nitrate nitrogen and water-soluble calcium.
YaraLiva Calcium Nitrate is a superior fertilizer that supplies readily available nitrate nitrogen as well as 100% water soluble calcium for a quick crop growth response. YaraLiva Calcium Nitrate is available as dry and liquid formulations.
